Cleveland Metroparks & Mastick Woods Golf Course will host a Cadet League on its sporty 9-hole executive course. The Cadet League is for "transitional" junior golfers, with some experience, who seek a greater challenge than the 3-hole introductory Pee Wee League but are not quite ready for a longer golf course.
Play in this league will be on Tuesday mornings. The first starting time will be at 10 a.m.. The play dates are June 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. The League Championship will be held on July 29. It will have a special 11 a.m. “shotgun” start for all players and will conclude with a light lunch and awards. The rain date for the championship will be August 5.
The age guidelines are 8 to 13 years old.
Each week players will receive a rule, etiquette, or swing tip on the first tee. The goals of the league are to learn the game, improve skills, and have some fun while doing that!
A fee of $20 is required at registration. Each week as players arrive, the Junior Greens Fee of $6.50 must be paid. Pull carts are available to rent ($3). Refunds only granted for cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to the event’s first starting time.
League is limited to the first 70 paid registrations.
Each child must have his/her own equipment. Golf shoes are recommended but not required. Any shoes that may cause damage to greens (i.e. baseball/soccer cleats and lug soles) are not permitted. Golf shirts or neat t-shirts are to be worn. Sleeves are required on boys’ shirts. Basketball jerseys, tank tops, tube tops, mesh shirts, etc., are not permitted. Neat pants or mid-thigh length shorts with pockets are to be worn. Swimming attire, short-shorts, cut-offs, athletic shorts, sweat pants, etc., are not permitted.
In general, players may request to play with friends. However, players are encouraged to meet new friends by playing with other league members. On championship day, players will be assigned to foursomes. Parents are encouraged to walk and observe or help supervise play. In the championship, parents and volunteers are needed to help score.
