Research: Conservation Genetics of Tonguetied Minnow (Exoglossum laurae)
Abstract: The overarching goal of this project is to collect DNA sequence data to assist in the conservation of rare and endangered tonguetied minnows. Mr. Oswald, along with NKU undergraduate Honors students, will work in conjunction with researchers from the University of South Carolina and the Ohio State University to estimate evolutionary genetic patterns of tonguetied minnow. We will pay particular attention to the upper Mad River population of Ohio. Once the project is completed, we intend to provide all results with freshwater fishery managers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
