Research: Vernal Pool Restoration
Abstract: The purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for people in Northeast Ohio to get directly involved in amphibian conservation. The project will increase the amount and quality of vernal pool habitat in Cleveland Metroparks and therefore will directly benefit local amphibian populations. A specific amphibian that is targeted for reintroduction into these new habitats is the wood frog (Rana sylvatica) which is an important vernal pool indicator species and not very common in the Metroparks.
