Now we are back in the city to finish up the paperwork to hopefully export the frogs. Upon request of the USFWS inspector I had an affidavit notarized stating the location of where the frogs came from in order to "prove" that they are A. varius and not A. zeteki. (FYI...getting something notarized in Panama.....not easy...and not cheap)......Next task: getting a health certificate for the frogs. We had thought that we could use the vet that works for ANAM, but because he is doing our export documents....we couldn't use him. Now what do we do? The only vets we have found work for pet stores that have illegally sold golden frogs! I do not want their logo on our documents....but what else are we going to do? After a long frustrating day, Eddie and I went back to the hotel. We still do not have a health certificate and we leave the morning of the 16th! So there I sit stressing the dilemma of the health certificate, while flipping through the business cards of the people who had attended the talk at the Parque Metropolitano.......and wow...one of the cards has a vet symbol on it! It says he is a herp vet at that!!!!!!!!!! So it is 8pm, but Edgardo calls him and he says that he will come out tonight and examine the frogs and we will have our health certificate! What a blessing! 1130pm and we have a vet at the hotel examining the frogs and we will have our paperwork in the morning! | ||||
