The first capture round for 2006 has started and will last a total of 14 days. Four traps or corrals are being used - three in the Morro do Diabo Park and one in a forest fragment. On July 11th, the first tapir was captured, an adult female with an estimated weight of 200kg or 441 lbs. The manipulation went well and blood, tissue and ectoparasite samples were collected.
