The TKCP has enjoyed many successes throughout 2005. They radio collared four wild tree kangaroos and tracked them daily to continue their study of home rang and activity patterns; this project is the first to GPS/radiocollar wild tree kangaroos in PNG and is providing exciting and new information. They have implemented the International Bug Club in PNG village schools and have submitted a proposal to the PNG.
Provincial government to formally establish a Conservation Area under the PNG Conservation Areas Act. Lisa Dabek and Chris Doyle (TKCP Education Specialists) have not returned yet from their fall trip to PNG, but they have told us that their work is going very well.
In 2005 the TKCP sponsored four local students for teacher training, one of whom graduated in late November and will begin teaching in a village school in 2006. The three recipients of the first annual Allice Gilley Memorial Scholarship began teaching in village schools in 2005.
