| Conservation of African lion and cheetah through children’s conservation education and interaction to deter human-wildlife conflict |

| Abstract: The main aim of this project is to conserve lion and cheetah populations by evaluating and reducing human-predator conflict through education efforts. Funding has been secured and a survey is already being conducted in the rural communities near Victoria Falls to determine the amount of conflict occurring, species causing the conflict, and the ability of locals to properly identify individual predator species. A hotline has been established for people to phone in any conflicts occurring in their area. By initiating the children’s conservation interaction activity we are trying to see how through the education of children, people are able to properly identify predators, and to give them a system for reporting conflicts, with a response team set to evaluate those conflicts in a timely manner and quantify the amount of damage. The anti-poaching aspect of this project aims to reduce subsistence poaching and poisoning of predators as retaliation tactics. |
