Reptile composition, habitat requirements and conservation in Siboney Ecological Reserve, Cuba
Study Site/Location: Sierra Maestra Mountains, Siboney, Santiago de Cuba
Species: Reptiles
Abstract: This study investigates the reptile fauna of the coastal xeric bush habitat within the Siboney Ecological Reserve in eastern Cuba. The investigation will include studies of species composition, richness, abundance, and status and also investigate the spatial, climatic and temporal resource use of reptile species. A complete species list of the reserve will be generated which will potentially include two previously undescribed species. Local residents, reserve rangers and biologists, and local university students will participate in the field work and meetings, make management recommendations and participate in the implementation of the conservation and management strategies for the reserve.
