| Abstract: The objective of this project is to study and conserve relict populations of Black-tailed prairie dogs that have been discovered on the grasslands of the Rio San Pedro in northern Sonora. The project will assess the colony locations and habitat characteristics, and will determine relict population sizes and productivity. A cooperative effort with the local reserve will allow the production of educational materials for local residents, and encourage local land-owners to protect the prairie dog colonies. |
