Population Density of Helmeted Cusasow (Pauxi pauxi) in Tama National Park, Colombia
Location: Tama National Park, Colombia
Species: Helmeted cusasow (Pauxi pauxi)
Abstract: This project will study the Northern Helmeted Curassow, a large threatened bird species in the Tama National Park in the eastern Andes of Colombia. I will determine the population density of this species by two different methodologies, aural and visual surveys. The information gathered by this project will be new and is fundamental to start any monitoring and conservation project for this species. Currently several populations of Northern Helmeted Curassows are protected in National Parks in Colombia and Venezuela, however their population density have not been assessed.
