| Abstract: Habitat destruction and forest fragmentation are the principal causes of species loss in terrestrial ecosystems around the globe and, in particular, in the tropical Andes. Therefore, the assessment of landscape management strategies to maintain biodiversity in transformed landscapes is one of the biggest challenges in Andean countries like Colombia. Restoration of vegetation corridors has been proposed as an alternative to increase connectivity in fragmented landscapes. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of vegetation corridors as connectors, in terms if they promote the movement of bird species across a highly fragmented landscape. To achieve so, individuals of four different bird species will be marked and followed, using VHF telemetry. The focal species present different responses to habitat fragmentation; therefore, I expect to find different movement patterns across the landscape.
