| Abstract: The Elephant Outreach Program of Living With Elephants Foundation is a conservation and environmental education program. It takes place in the wilderness of the Okavango Delta, Botswana. It is offered to children, aged 8-12, from unprivileged backgrounds and to the environmental clubs of the primary schools of the southern part of the delta. Conducted in partnership with the Departments of Education and Wildlife (Conservation Education Unit), it annually becomes more integrated into the Botswana Environmental Education syllabus. In today's world, it is becoming more and more important to protect our environment and learn how to live with nature and big animals such as elephants. If we fail to live with them it is very likely that we will fail to live with most of the Planet Biodiversity. Through education, the young African generation can move towards wildlife conservation and eco-tourism making conservation a corner stone of their sustainable development. |
