Keeper For a DayAre you a middle school, high school or college student thinking about a career with animals? Are you a working adult wondering what it would be like to have a career with animals? If so, the Keeper for a Day program at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is for you. Similar to a job shadowing program, participants will spend the day with animal professionals in the Zoo's Conservation Education Division for a one-of-a-kind experience.

  • Your day will include hands-on activities working directly with the animals such as preparing their meals, cleaning enclosures, conducting training exercises and providing them with enrichment items to stimulate them both mentally and physically.

  • If your visit falls in the months of June through August, or on a September weekend, your day will include assisting with Get Close animal programs at the Ballarat Theatre in Australian Adventure and watching Professor Wylde's Animal Show from backstage at the Savanna Theater.

  • This exciting program runs year-round.

  • The minimum age for the program is 12 years old.

  • The cost of the program is $200 and only one participant will be scheduled per day.

  • Program length will be five hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • All participants are required to have a current TB test (within the last year) and must complete a waiver and release of claims form. (TB test is step 1)
