Exciting Opportunities for Everyone...
Teachers Families Volunteers
Students Groups  

Service Volunteers

Service Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per year. A two-day introductory training course is required of all volunteers.

Information Stations
Volunteers greet visitors, answer questions, and direct visitors to various locations around the Zoo. Stations are in both the main Zoo and RainForest and Australian Adventure.

Tram Narration
Volunteers provide informal and educational narrations while tram is enroute from stop to stop.

R.A.I.N. Station
Located in The RainForest, this interactive station provides visitors with information and a vehicle to donate to rain forest conservation organizations. Volunteers assist with staffing this station.

Special Events
The Zoo hosts many special events, large and small, throughout the year. From Boo at the Zoo to smaller seasonal events like Breakfast With the Animals and Senior Celebration Day, there is always need for volunteer assistance. Activities are as varied as the events themselves, but can include everything from face painting to wearing an animal character costume to cooking eggs and sausage.

Adventure Series
Opportunities to assist Education Specialist with programs for young children. Activities include helping with crafts, snacks and zoo walks.

Overnights
Assist overnight counselors with set-up and fundamental aspects of the structured overnight group programs.
