Service Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per year. A two-day introductory training course is required of all volunteers.
Information Stations
Volunteers greet visitors, answer questions, and direct visitors to various locations around the Zoo. Stations are in both the main Zoo and RainForest and Australian Adventure.
Tram Narration
Volunteers provide informal and educational narrations while tram is enroute from stop to stop.
Special Events
The Zoo hosts many special events, large and small, throughout the year. From Boo at the Zoo to smaller seasonal events like Senior Celebration Day, there is always need for volunteer assistance. Activities are as varied as the events themselves, but can include everything from face painting to wearing an animal character costume to cooking eggs and sausage.
Overnights
Assist overnight counselors with set-up and fundamental aspects of the structured overnight group programs.
