The Zoo celebrates America Recycles Day (ARD) with special activities to raise awareness of "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" and buying recycled-content products. More information can be found on the National Recycling Coalition's website. Recycling information and exhibits will be available in the Zoo's Palava Hut Pavilion and the Administration Building Auditorium: recycling businesses, recycled products manufacturers, artists who utilize recycled materials, organizations who embrace recycling programs and educational activities.
Recycling
The Zoo's Resource Management Committee will be sponsoring a computer recycling collection on ARD. We encourage visitors to bring select materials (listed below) for recycling on this day. Recycling of the following items will be available in the Hippo parking lot behind The RainForest:
- Computer equipment (NO televisions)
- Inkjet and toner printer cartridges
- Cell Phones and accessories
- Newspapers, magazines, catalogs
- Personal documents that need shredding (a shredding truck will be on site until 2 p.m., please limit shredding to five recycling bags/boxes per person)
- Aluminum cans (proceeds to benefit the Mbeli Bai Gorilla Conservation Project)

- Make a recycled craft to take home
- Check out the Great Lakes Brewing Co's. Fatty Wagon

Are you looking for an opportunity to get your message in front of thousands of children & adults? Then please consider requesting exhibitor space at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's America Recycles Day event on Sunday, November 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event includes recycling collections of computers, cell phones & accessories, printer cartridges, aluminum cans, and personal documents for shredding on site. The Zoo's Palava Hut Picnic Pavilion & the Zoo Auditorium will have space for informational & promotional exhibits (recycling businesses, recycled content products manufacturers, artists using recycled materials, organizations highlighting their recycling accomplishments, ect.) as well as educational activities (school environmental clubs or projects, crafts, etc.) and we invite you to take part in that exhibition.
