amphibians
Participate in local Year of the Frog "Leap into Action" events, including activities at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and experience your very own amphibian adventure.
Create amphibian friendly environments at home, at school or in your community by providing clean water, hiding places, and insects to eat. Landscape with native plants and protect wetlands and vernal pools.
Don't pollute. Use eco-friendly gardening and lawn care techniques - don't use pesticides and other chemicals.
Be a responsible pet owner. Be nice to frogs, and make sure that your dog or cat respects them too. Appreciate amphibians with binoculars and buckets, and always put them back in the same place after catching and looking at them.
Conserve water at home, school and work. Install a rain barrel to capture and use rainwater, or create a rain garden and disconnect your downspout.
Reduce fossil fuel use and generate less waste by reusing, recycling and composting.
- Calculate your ecological footprint.
- Don't drink bottled water.
- Become carbon neutral.
- Eat lower on the food chain.
Be an amphibian champion. Get involved in your own backyard and community. Advocate for wetland protection. Adopt a pond.
