Virtual Tour > Waterfowl Lake > DINOSAURS!

This journey to prehistoric times introduces you to the powerful monsters that once ruled the earth. Along the beautiful shores of Waterfowl Lake, DINOSAURS! 2010 features many species of beasts never before displayed at the Zoo - including the Massospondylus, the crocodile ancestor Sarcosuchus and one of the longest dinosaurs that ever lived, Deltadromeus. DINOSAURS! also brings life to the 20-foot-tall Tyrannosaurus rex, the 30-foot-long Iguanodon and the water-spitting Dilophosaurus. Find out more about the dinosaur species on our Meet the Dinosaurs page.

The animatronic dinosaurs, including several "babies," roar and move just like they did millions of years ago. Each dinosaur is built on a steel frame by Billings Productions of McKinney, Texas, and covered with intricately painted foam rubber as skin. State-of-the-art electronics and air pistons power the dinosaurs' movements, and a booming sound system gives them their voices.

DINOSAURS! also includes eight painted dinosaur sculptures. The nine-foot long, five-foot tall and two-foot wide Sauropods are custom painted and can be seen around the Zoo this summer.

DINOSAURS! is just $1 per person with regular Zoo admission and free for Zoo members and children under 2. DINOSAURS! is open daily from Thursday, May 6, through Sunday, September 12.
