Cleveland Metroparks Zoo & The RainForest are open all year except January 1 and December 25.

Hours:

  • Daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The main gate opens at 9:30 a.m.
  • The Zoo Box Office closes at 4 p.m.
  • Memorial Day through Labor Day, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the Zoo and The RainForest remain open until 7 p.m. and Zoo Box Office closes at 6 p.m.

On Mondays, the Zoo (not including The RainForest) is FREE for residents of Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township.* From Memorial Day through Labor Day, if Monday is an observed holiday, discounts apply on Tuesday instead. If you qualify for free Zoo-only admission on Mondays, tickets for The RainForest may be purchased at the following rates: Adults (12 and older) are $5.00, Children (2-11) are $3.00, and Children under 2 are free.

*To confirm your residency, bring your driver's license or state I.D. or a current utility bill with your Cuyahoga Cty. or Hinckley Twp. address along with a photo ID.

Important Admission Information:

  • Parking is FREE

  • Credit Cards: Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted at the Box Office, as well as cash or check. The Zoo's main gift shops in the Welcome Plaza and The RainForest accept Visa, Master Card, American Express or cash (no checks). Food vendors only accept cash.

  • There are two ATM's available:
    • at the Ticket Plaza
    • at the Roaring Lion Café

  • A playground is located near the Primate Cat & Aquatics Building.

  • Coolers and picnic baskets are allowed on Zoo grounds. Skateboards, roller skates, bicycles, pets and grills are prohibited. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.

  • For the safety of the animals, the Zoo does not provide straws or drink lids. Help us maintain a healthy, positive environment - please do not feed or tease the animals. Keep our waterways clean and safe for the animals. Don't throw objects including coins in the water.

  • Service animals: Concurrent with ADA regulations, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will allow fully trained service animals onto Zoo property. To ensure the safety of the highly sensitive animals in our Zoo collection, the following guidelines will be enforced for all persons accompanied by a service animal.

    Guests with service animals will:
    • Provide Guest Services proof of certification and/or vaccination, prior to entering the Zoo or RainForest.
    • Agree to be accompanied by a Guest Services Associate for the duration of visit and agree to remain out of restricted areas.
    • The service animal must be under the complete control of the owner/handler at times. In the event that a Zoo animal should respond adversely to the presence of the service animal the owner/handler will move promptly away from the immediate area to avoid injury to the Zoo animal due to fright or panic.
    • All service animals must remain on a harness or leash at all times. The leash may not be longer than four feet.
    • Owners will be responsible for all actions of the service animal including the clean up of all defecation from the service animal.
    • Service animals may not cross over barriers or otherwise come in close proximity to the Zoo's animal collection.
    • Owners will be held responsible for any damages or injury caused by their service animal.

  • ZooTram Service
    • ZooTrams are provided FREE of charge.
    • For the saftey of our guests, ZooTrams do NOT operate on Mondays in the summer (through Labor Day).
    • ZooTrams are wheelchair accessible.
    • Enclosed, heated ZooTrams run during the winter when it's really chilly.



Wild Wednesdays

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offers half-price admission on "Wild Wednesdays" this summer for residents of Lake, Lorain, Summit, Portage, Geauga and Medina counties. The special discount applies to residents of surrounding counties as follows:

  • July 7: Lake County Day
  • July 14: Lorain County Day
  • July 21: Summit County Day
  • July 28: Portage County Day
  • August 4: Geauga County Day
  • August 11: Medina County Day

On Wild Wednesdays, Zoo admission for qualifying residents is half-price all day (includes admission to The RainForest). Out-of-county residents should bring a valid photo ID (with current address) to the Zoo Box Office on the specified day, or bring a current utility bill with another form of photo identification.

Good Any Day tickets:

  • AAA (must purchase at AAA office). Tickets are for $1 off regular summer admission prices. Phone 216-606-6225 or 800-711-5370.
  • Cleveland Metroparks online store. Delivered in 2 weeks or less. Shipping charged.
  • Discount Drug Mart. Tickets are for $1 off regular summer admission prices. Available at select locations. Visit your local Discount Drug Mart store for details.
  • Many companies offer Good Any Day tickets through their Human Resources department for $1 off regular admission prices. They must be purchased through your HR Dept. Call 216-635-3389 for more information.
