Knoxville's Baby Chimp Has Cleveland Ties

Knoxville Zoo was proud to announce the arrival of a newborn chimp earlier this month, and all of us here at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo couldn't help but be proud of the little one, too.

Robin Swoboda is Back at the Zoo

She was here last summer and now she's back! Don't miss "That's Life with Robin Swoboda" at 10 a.m., Monday, July 28 on Fox 8 for an entire hour featuring Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The recently-taped show also features Jen Toohey and Rebecca Wilde from Cleveland's Q104 radio station and focuses on the Zoo's summer exhibits including frogs, New Guinea singing dogs, Red River hogs, TOUCH! Amazing Rays & Sharks and Professor Wylde's Animal Show. Two additional segments will highlight the Zoo's commissary and contact yard in Australian Adventure.

Thank a Keeper this Week

If you see an animal keeper at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this week, stop and say thanks for all that they do to care for animals.

Zoo Week on WKYC-TV3, July 21-25

Another heads-up! NBC affiliate WKYC-TV3 will be broadcasting its morning show live from the Zoo every day this week, July 21 through 25. I've been informed that there will be some cool giveaways like being a vet for a day, having a birthday party at the Zoo, being a cast member in “Professor Wylde’s Animal Show” and more. We also heard a rumor that they will be launching a Zoo webcam on their website So be sure to watch every morning this week from 5 to 7 a.m. on Channel 3 News Today.

Is That a TV Anchor Shoveling Elephant Poo?

Don't ask us how we did it, but we got Abby Ham from Channel 3's morning show to help us clean up after the Zoo's elephants this morning. The Roar Report has your inside scoop on Abby and the poop!

Get Close to Animals at Select Bob Evans Locations

Beachwood Bob Evans customers got a surprise two nights ago when Cleveland Metroparks Zoo animals greeted them on their way into the restaurant.

Zoo staff and small animals will be visiting two more Bob Evans locations in the next two weeks. On Tuesday, July 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., you can get close to a few of the Zoo's small animals at the Bob Evans in Brookpark, 13050 Brookpark Road. Then, on Tuesday, July 29 from 5 to 8 p.m., Zoo staff will bring their animals to meet and greet you at the Bob Evans in North Olmsted, on 25853 Lorain Road. Also on July 29, many Bob Evans restaurants in Northeast Ohio will be donating 10% of their proceeds to the Zoo's Vernal Pool Project (see list of locations and more  information about the Bob Evans fundraiser).

Zoo to be Featured in Living Green Special on WEWS-TV5

Heads up! I just received word that local ABC affiliate WEWS-TV5 will be airing a special program called "Living Green" tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 16, at 8 p.m. The special will feature Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's Resource Management Coordinator, Nancy Hughes, discussing some of the Zoo's green initiatives. Check it out when you get a chance and let us know what you thought.

A Look at Animal Care at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

If you haven't noticed lately, the Roar Report is getting more interesting by the day and we're adding new bloggers all the time.
