By Replanting the Earth's Trees, We can Rebuild our Planet

On July 5-9, 2009 two of our members from Zoo Crew, a teen volunteer program here at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, will be going to Ottawa Canada to represent our Zoo at the Second International Youth Symposium on Biodiversity sponsored by biodiversitymatters.org. In preparation for Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's "Heart to Heart Day" -- a fun-filled way to learn about cardiac health in both gorillas and humans -- the Roar Report caught up with one of the event's stars. Find out what Jerry Skeabeck, "The Biggest Loser" star and Cleveland native, told us about his weight loss journey and his experiences on the set.

Knee Deep In It: Forest Hills Nature Hike

Saturday January 31, 2009, Zoo Crew teen volunteers went on a naturalist hike at Forest Hills Park in East Cleveland, Ohio. The volunteers needed to dress warm for the trip. Most of the hike consisted of trudging through snow that was knee deep, even on the down hill slopes.
