A New Bird in Town (Photo Gallery)

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo recently added a Steller's sea eagle to its bird of prey collection. The newest raptor, a female, has been stunning Zoo visitors and staff alike for a little over a week. She joins two other species in residence along Waterfowl Lake: Andean condors and cinereous vultures.

Cleveland Indians' Slider on Safari at the Zoo

On Sunday evening, June 28, Cleveland Indians mascot, Slider, was given a special behind the scenes tour and "meet & greet" with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's Masai giraffe herd. Slider had a "rock-star-like" appeal to both the humans and the animals at the Zoo, and he introduced us to a brood of his very own.

Half a Million Zoo Visitors and Counting ...

Yesterday marked an attendance milestone here at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, as we welcomed our 500,000th visitor of the year! For the year, our attendance is nearly 10 percent ahead of the same time in 2008, and we're hoping for that trend to continue. There's a lot of Zoo to do this summer without breaking the bank. You can see nearly 3,000 animals for just $10 a person! I think that's a decent deal. (Admission is $7 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members.)

Creatures Great and Small at the Zoo

We always love seeing people's photos from their trips to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Even when some of the animals captured on film are "just visiting."
