FLUTTER!, A Feast for the Senses and a Photographer's Dream

With the yearly opening of our summer exhibits, I always look forward to writing a blog about one of the great photo opportunities at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo -- our butterfly exhibit, FLUTTER! Inside the Zoo's Public Greenhouse (across from Waterfowl Lake), FLUTTER! is once again a photographer's paradise and a feast for the senses, with its beautiful free-flying butterflies, soothing tunes and rare aromatic plants.

Snails Save the Day for Apes

Snails don’t often get the opportunity to save great apes—even if they are African giant snails. But these mollusks are crawling to the rescue of Nigeria’s Cross River gorillas.

The Green Wave: Zoo Crew Celebrates Biodiversity around the World

What is The Green Wave? It's a celebration of the International Day of Biodiversity (IDB). And because this year is the Year of Biodiversity, it makes The Green Wave even more special. The Green Wave was celebrated by the Zoo's teen volunteers, Zoo Crew, on May 22 and 23 with a tree planting and then a sharing of tree plantings around the world. What's that Smell?

It's not what you think! With almost three weeks to go before the opening of summer exhibit "The Scoop on Poop," we have been informed by the Zoo's Manager of Horticulture that another smelly exhibit is imminent. The Zoo's titan arum, "Cronus" (remember him?), has entered flower stage.
