Spider Tortoise Baby Video

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo received so much interest in our new Northern spider tortoise hatchling that I decided to put together a short video in which keeper Brad Poynter briefly discusses the difficult task of hatching the egg. Check out our exclusive footage of the egg with a heartbeat, the little tortoise and last year's hatchling (now one year old) of the same subspecies (Pyxis arachnoids brygooi).

Since I became a volunteer in late 06, I constantly check the web site for news. Since I can only volunteer in warm weather (the really cold weather effects my legs) I ride in a scooter) I specially enjoy the zoo tube so I can follow what is going on durning the winter.
