Farewell Wishes

On Tuesday, September 2 the Zoo's three female elephants - Jo, Moshi and Martika - moved to the Columbus Zoo where they will stay until construction of their new home, African Elephant Crossing, is finished. A few of you have showed how much you care by sending us your farewell wishes for the elephants.

It appears that the staff  and volunteers at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo are not the only ones who will miss the elephants while they're in Columbus. Many of you have shared your elephant pictures and stories with us. A few of you have even sent in hand-made farewell cards for the elephants (and Blackie...our 54 year-old Nile Hippo who is moving to his retirement condo). Below are a few of the fantastic cards and pictures we've received. Thanks for your support!

A sincere so long and "we hardly knew ye" to the Red River Hogs. Much fun to watch them "head-butt" and root around. They brightened my day. I hope they can return someday.
