Bowling WITH Rhinos

Here's an exclusive heads-up for readers of The Roar Report. In preparation for Mother’s Day weekend and the annual Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser, black rhino "Inge" and her two daughters, "Zuri" and "Kibibi" will take their horns to some human-sized, treat-filled papier mâché bowling pins at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6. Whether the mother-daughter team will use their horns to cut open the pins, their feet to smash them or a giant ball to knock them over remains unknown, but last year, Kibibi crushed and chewed up the bowling ball (mind you, it was also papier mâché).

Mother’s Day at the Zoo is Sunday, May 10. All moms receive free Zoo admission that day, and narrated tram tours will highlight some of the Zoo's popular moms and babies.

And Saturday, May 16, the Zoo and the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers present the annual Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser (info and tickets) from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at Cloverleaf Lanes in Independence.
