20th Anniversary of The RainForest Scavenger Hunt

Not able to join us this weekend, November 17-19, for the 20th Anniversary of The RainForest? You can still get in on the fun and maybe even win a prize! Try your hand at our scavenger hunt!


Take a look at all ten of our clues below and see if you know the answers. Remember, all of the answers to the clues below can be found in Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's The RainForest and online at clemetzoo.com.

TO ENTER: Fill out your contact information and enter the correct answers to all ten of the clues HERE.  

Twenty lucky winners will take home a 2013 Zoo calendar and one Grand Prize winner will receive a $250 gift card courtesy of Arhaus Furniture! (Winners chosen at random and contacted via email.)

Clue #1: I am a nocturnal amphibian from South America. The males of my species are known for making loud calls from water-filled tree holes.

Clue #2: I am a place where scientists go to study plants and animals to help save the rain forest.

Clue #3: This animal is the world’s largest rodent and can grow up to 175 pounds. One of these rodents had babies in The RainForest on October 6, 2012.

Clue #4: What wild feline has small black spots on its fur, is a skilled swimmer and uses its webbed paws to catch its prey?

Clue #5: What animal lives in the glass dome exhibit on the second level of The RainForest, and in the wild spends most of its time up in trees?

Clue #6: We live in a family group on the second level of The RainForest and, in the wild, use our webbed paws to search for food.

Clue #7: What flying mammal helps pollinate flowers and is often associated with Halloween?

Clue #8: Why do chameleons change color?

Clue #9: What animal is sculpted into the wall of the reticulated python exhibit?

Clue #10: Name the four social groups in an ant colony.

The RainForest at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo opened on November 19, 1992. Help the Zoo celebrate the 20th anniversary of The RainForest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. November 17-19 with activities, giveaways, animal enrichment demonstrations, crafts, music, meet the keeper sessions and on Monday, November 19, special guest Radio Disney and free admission to The RainForest.
